April Showers Bring May Flowers

Spring has finally sprung!

The warming weather has finally arrived, with melting snow and the usual mucky roads…but don’t worry! It won’t be long until we are outside in our gardens, spring flowers and vegetable gardens growing, or camping in our  travel trailers and tents! Whatever you do, don’t forget your current projects and let them languish…you’ll end up with eternal WIPs (works in progress)!
Small projects can help you keep your crafting mojo during these Spring months, and busy days.

April Hours:
Tuesday – Saturday: 9:30am – 4:30pm
Sunday & Mondays: Closed
Saturday 20th: Closed for Easter!

New Products in Store!

This past month has been super busy! We’ve brought in several new yarns and fun products, restocked all of our yarns, needles, & tools, and brought in plenty of new colours for lots of our favourite yarns.

The Gleener! It’s a blade-free pill and fuzz remover for all your items (even delicates!) An amazing product you’ve got to see…we have one in the shop to check out!

Say Hello to Drops Design yarns! We’ve started out modestly with 4 new yarns:
– Drops Delight: 3 colours of a sport weight, single-ply 50g/191yds 75% superwash wool/ 25% Polyamide yarn in nice long gradients
– Drops Big Delight: 4 colours of a worsted weight, single-ply 100g/ 208yds 100% wool yarn in long gradients (and it’s feltable, too!)
– Drops Alpaca: 6 colours of a sport weight, 50g/ 183yds 100% Alpaca yarn that would be fabulous for any super-soft, light weight project. Can we say summer items or heritage-quality baby items?
-Drops Fabel: 5 colours of 50g/ 224yds, 75% superwash wool/ 25% polyamide, self patterning wool for making fab socks! And it has a fantastic price point, too!

Wisdom Yarns Wacki Saki: It finally came! Limited amounts of 5 colours (don’t worry, we’ll order more, now that we know how awesome it is!) of a 100g/ 462yds, 50% Superwash Merino/ 25% Bamboo/ 25% Nylon self-patterning sock yarn with a great price. This yarn is the same as the Saki Bamboo, but in a ball format and self-patterning! They’re as soft and awesome as we had hoped they’d be.

-Red Heart Collage: 3 fun colours of this jumbo 141g/ 55yds, 80% acrylic/ 20% wool yarn, for soft, lightning-fast projects!

There are also new colours in lots of our in-stock yarns: Universal Yarns Major, Katia Infinity Shawl, Hayfield Baby Blossom Chunky, Sugarbush Drizzle, Universal Yarns Bamboo Pop, Mirasol Nuna, Cascade Ultra Pima, Circulo Anne, and Regia Sock yarns. Come on in and check them out!

Knit alongs!!

Well, we’ve been having a bit of an unofficial sweater KAL (knit along) here at the shop. It’s the ever-popular, boxy Weekender Sweater designed by Andrea Mowry, and it’s going swimmingly! We’ve got 5 ladies in different stages of knitting the sweater in different yarns and they are all looking fantastic so far! Mine is shown here in a Briggs & Little Durasport (a Canadian sportweight wool/nylon blend) held double with Sugarbush Drizzle (a laceweight Kid Mohair/ silk blend) and it is absolutely soft and fuzzy (and so warm!). It’s in the shop, if you want to come check it out.

Want to do a KAL with us??

I’m so excited to do another Knitalong!! It will hopefully be a Free Your Fade shawl, by Andrea Mowry, but don’t worry…you’ll have tons of time to think about joining, or even suggest another shawl or project (maybe a light weight t-shirt top??), as I believe we will start this one sometime mid-May!
This specific pattern is a really relaxing garter stitch with eyelet rows and endless fade and color possibilities. It’s worked up with 3 colours in the pattern, but can be done solid, or with as many as you’d like (hello, need to use up some stash bits?!)
How the KAL works is: We will finalize the project near the beginning of May, and give everyone two weeks to get their supplies in order, and then have a dedicated cast-on date (say…Mid-May?). We will be having regular weekly meet-ups in the shop, as well as  a Ravelry page to post photos and questions in (and I’d LOVE folks to join in with that), and we will have a draw at the end of the KAL (I think 3 months should be a good) for something fun!
